Ask around about the tuner is probably the best bet. Recently tuned cars, see how they run, etc. See if he does a compression or leak down test possibly. Watch if he pulls the plugs and reads them, etc.

Another major issue you may want to consider is customer service.
Some tuner's will not even pick up the phone once they have your money....

What is this tuner's name ?
Most tuner's have their own tuning wideband for temporary use on customer's cars....

isnt it very hard to estimate time as he states he can do it in 1.5hr's?

I have seen a tuner have an basemap of his own be very close to my friends build and he was able to pull off the whole thing in 1.5hrs with great results but there are cases where you most likely wont have a basemap capable of even running the damn car like say an f20b with an f23 bottom end with 13comp with nos see that wouldnt be an everyday build nor would he have an readily basemap for it therefore he'd most likely have to tune that thing for hours!

what I would like to hear is my tune per hr is such and such,I have tuned these motors with these numbers and they are still running smooth,I tuned the this race champs car, I can not say exactly how long your tune will take if you want it done right are things that I personally would be more comfortable hearing then say 150 for a tune.
