Hi all,
I was looking under my hood today (00 EM1) and saw that my car currently has what appears to be a single core rad.
I was under the impression that the Si had a dual core?
I also read in the search that the EX for those years came with a dual core aluminum rad?
Is that true?
If so, would the EX rad fit in the Si without any issues?
I assume it would given the same gen etc... My car isn't over heating or anything like that but the fan does come on a lot more than my other civic which leads me to believe that maybe the rad on my EM1 is not the correct one.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

 

The Canadian SiR (US Si) has larger inlets for the rad hose. I've heard that its dual core and/or thicker but i've never had the opportunity to look at a real SiR rad.

 

the rads from 92 - 00 all mount the same, so it will fit like stock.
the the poster above me said the b-series inlets on the rad are slightly bigger then the d-series. i think its like 1.25" for the b and 1.1" for the d.

but you can get a nice aluminum dual core from just-intercoolers on ebay for like $70-ish shipped. i had one on my 92 lsvtec turbo hatch, it worked great and has the spot to mount the factory fan. basically i think they are de-badged mishimotos.

Those cheap ebay radiators are great. I've had a "Mishimoto" for about 5 years and it has been fantastic.

 

I'll snap a quick short of the rad tonight and post it.
I don't think it's the proper rad for a CDN SiR.

That being said, given the bigger in/outlets I should stick the a true SiR rad.
I've been looking into those mishimoto rads as well... My main concern with those is the inside of the rad, are the fluid channels nice and clear? Some of the cheaper perf rads look pretty but inside they are full of jagged edges etc that really restrict the flow. Mind you, mishimoto is a pretty respected name, that doesn't happen y putting out crap parts.
