Well, can I? Please? If I leave, it will be around 3-4 pm tomorrow afternoon putting me in NC mullettown around 12ish. I may need a place to crash before bookin' it the rest of the way....what do you say boys? (preferably close to 95)
If for some reason you want to go through ATL, you are welcome to stay at my place. From ATL to NY I go I-85N, then switch over to I-77 N off Charlotte. Then, swith off to I-81E until you hit I-71E. It'll put you right in NYC. This route is all backroads... no major cities to get stuck in traffic.
Taking this route ATL -> NYC is ~10-11 hours going +15mph all the way through.
Of course, it makes more sense for you to take I-95 from O-town.
Let me know which route you're going.

still unsure Sean, but I got your number just in case - Really? Only 10-11 hours from your place. I would think it would be alittle more than that... I remember when we came up for the ATL meet, we got stuck in traffic for like 2 hours going 5 mph
I'll call you if I go though....

Yeah, 11 hours... but you gotta haul butt. lol.
Remember, the backroad goes through absolutely nothing (Virginia Tech is the only place where the traffic could be bad)... the only thing that will slow you down is the VA cops. (no radar detectors allowed.)
IM me before you take off... my phone might be turned out tomorrow afternoon. Let me know either way, so I know to expect you or not expect you. My new place is a little north of ATL.

aight, still unsure if I'm even going to go....I got this stupid leak in the engine bay somewhere that I'm too lazy to look into
I have done the trip twice from Tampa to NYC and the best time I made it in was 13 hours, But i also had a very bad rain storm on the way down once and it took me just over 22 hours.
the point of me telling you this is... do it on a rain free day second you can do it by yourself and just stops for gas (no sleep needed) just a single happy smoke for the mid point to keep yourself motivated
also if you drive the R up your gas econ should be around 28mpg w/o a/c

13 hours!! YEAH RIGHT!! I've done it like 10 times and the best time I made was 17 hours. You must have been doing 130 the whole way...It was around 50 bucks in gas to get there in the R...
A few times I was cruising about 7500 in 5th for long peroids of time, but the least speed I carry is 80, cops or not.

yeah, I agree. I certainly can have a lead foot (especially with Dave in the car on the way to Craigs), but big tickets will not own me - if there are other cars doing 120+, I don't mind, but if I'm doing 120 and everyone else is doing 80, there's a problem
you man, your welcome to stay or party......at my house i live 15 mins ffrom NYC
I wish someone would have let me stay over when I was coming back from seattle, the drive took way longer than expected and I was falling asleep at the wheel.
Oh well, little to late to complain now

is that safe to nap in a rest area. Last time I drove to NY, I napped for like 30 minutes in NC and was scared someone was going to bust me up....

We made it from Macon/ATL to NY in 13hrs last year on the way back from NOPI. We drove through the night though, so there was little to no traffic. At one point, I went 15miles in 8minutes
