Fast Idle when Cold.
04 CRV with 65K miles has started idling between 2000 to 3000 RPM when cold started. It also started down shifting poorly. After a few weeks of doing this it reported a throttle position sensor error. I replaced the sensor and have not gotten the error sense. Resetting the computer was required to fix the transmission shifting, however the cold fast idle problem remained the same. From what I understand the Idle Air Control Valve controls the idle when cold. It seemed logical to replace IACV sense the computer can't detect a failure, so I did. This also did not affect the cold fast idle problem. I'm not finding a vacuum leak.
Anyone know what's going on here?

I ran out of ideas and took it to the local dealer to see if they could figure out what the problem is. I figured they might have a tech bulletin or something on it, but no they don't have a clue and suggest changing the $800 throttle body assembly. That advise cost me $95. Anyone have any ideas of what I should try now?
throwing parts at it may fix it but its gonna cost you alot to find out what part is bad. and if the dealer couldnt figure it out i would take it to another dealer. there are many ways of testing sensors and things of that nature. take the trottle body off and make sure its not gunked up or something. my car idles around 2k to 2500 everytime. especially in the winter. if its not noticably hurting your performance and its no throwing any codes i would leave it alone. i would also ask the guys in the tech/misc section. those guys know there ****. im have to go somewhere in like an hour and my serve has been sitting for a few days so i will check it out and let you know where it idled at cold.
Thanks TungeTuned. I just had another conversation with the Honda Servie dept. I sort of pinned them down asking why they did not check the Cold Idle valve or verified that the throttle position sensor was reading .45 Volts when closed. It appears they just did the bear minimum and just checked for error codes. For the last 4 years it has not cold idled like this. Jamming it in drive at 3000rpm can't be good. There is a problem.
Thanks man. I also heard back from the dealer and they offered to look at it again and run it through the Honda trouble chart printing out the tests and results as well as check any additional items I deem necessary. Mighty nice of them seeings how they just checked for stored error codes the first time around. We'll see, I wont get my hopes to high.
