Because performance was mentioned in the title, 15 is the obvious choice. 15x7.5 preferably.

If its only cosmetics you're concerned about, this is the wrong forum to ask about that.

Depends on the car and the weight and tire . . . Rather complex question.

Beware, 15x7.5 is okay for 205/50-15 tires, but not for 195/55-15. So if you want to use a tire that comes in 195/55-15, such as the sticky Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, you'll need to go no wider than 15x7. Same thing for longer-lasting tires, such as the Yokohama S.drive, which is a lot less expensive in 195/55-15 than 205/50-15. If you get 15x6, 15x6.5, or 15x7, you'll be able to use either tire size without any issues.

For 16" wheels on a 2000 Civic, your best tire sizes are 205/45-16 or 215/45-16. 205/45-16 is good for 16x6.5, 16x7, or 16x7.5. 215/45-16 is good for 16x7, 16x7.5, or 16x8. If you want to preserve your ability to choose either tire size, get 16x7 or 16x7.5.

This is why you should look at tire sizes FIRST, and then look at wheel sizes.

Well I got schooled (again)... Completely forgot about the 195/55-15 size.

Good luck getting that to fit on a 2000 Civic without rubbing.

Always been a fan of the 215/45/16 on a 16x7
You can't go wrong with the NEW 225/45/15 though! That size makes me happy!
