Default Tire size question

Hey guys,

I borrowed my friends Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial II, the size is: 205-50-15
here's a pic

Now I'm getting my own and I want to be sure the tire fits especially since I'm dropped. I'm getting them for a 14" rims,
Should I go with 205/50/14 (22 x 8.50R14)
or
Should I go with 215/60/14 (24 x 8.50R14)

can any one help me?

They won't fit if the diameter is too big, because they will be rubbing on the wheel wells or fenders. But you can't make the diameter too small, either. You want to keep the diameter about the same as your stock size, which the 205/50-15 does.

Here are the calculated outer diameters and how they compare with your stock size:

195/60-14: 23.21" (+0.0 percent) - STOCK
205/50-15: 23.07" (-0.6 percent)
205/50-14: 22.07" (-4.9 percent)
215/60-14: 24.16" (+4.1 percent)

I definitely wouldn't get the 215/60, because it WILL rub. But the 205/50-14 is awfully small...

More info that maybe would help:

This is for an integra (picture above) with 460whp and I will be putting them on steelies.
Got a gsr tranny, dropped on neuspeed sport 1.75" front

I put my friends slicks on a few days ago 24.5 on 15" rim and I chose not to run them because it was way to close to the fender. I had about 0.5" clearance and I was worried that when they balloon they'll rub.
So I assume that the 215 60 14 drag radials (24") will be ok since it will give me about 1" clearance total and they don't balloon like slicks.
Am I right to assume this and proceed with purchasing the bigger size?

Also my stock tire is 195-60-14 (23")

No. They WILL rub.

Also, how wide are the steelies? (If you have to measure them, do so at the bead, not at the outer edges.) Most Integra steelies are 14x5.5, which is too narrow and a 215/60-14 drag radial cannot be mounted safely on them; you need at least 14x6.

So it's just a bad idea all around.

P.S. Also note that the difference in clearance is only HALF the difference in diameter. In other words, the difference in clearance between a tire 24.16" in diameter and one 24.5" in diameter is 0.17".
