Icon2 how low can I go?

Without replacing anything but the coil springs, how low can I drop my ride without undo wear to other suspension parts and tires. Thanks in advance.

zero..stock height.

anything lower then stock or higher then stock will wear other parts faster (struts, rack, front end, hubs, tires) without changing anything.

the real question is how long those parts will last stock height compared to lowered ride height.

Since I don't know your exact car, I'll just have to be more general.

No matter what, if you just do springs, you will wear out quite a few things quickly. Shocks are a very good example. Most of the time lowering springs w/ stock shocks = painful death for the shocks. Sometimes they will last a while, but they will wear out more quickly.

Now, if you do springs AND shocks, you can usually drop it 1" to 1.5" without real problems. Just get an alignment and you are good.

If you go any lower, MOST of the time you will need a camber kit to keep the tires wearing evenly. There are exceptions of course, but with Civics and Sol's, this is usually the case. I think I may have seen a 2" drop done without a camber kit with no issues, but I'm not sure on that.

suspension is a tricky subject- loads of angles and geometry to figure out here... it depends on if you want to drop it the right way, or do something ghetto. The right way is a lot safer, parts last longer, and costs more upfront. The ghetto way you'll have a lowered car, but parts and tires will wear out a lot faster and will cost you more eventually.

If you want it really low- if you're the showy type- bag it. I've seen s10s with the bed and fenderwells cut out and they'll sit with the frame on the ground.
