track guys? what happens when you blow YOUR tranny?
thats a funky title name lol
anyways , What do you guys do? I mean I will going to KCIR very soon to test out my vitara turbo build , I have it built , just waiting on injectors and new head components and charge piping. also need to get the tranny situation figured out.... I have an Si tranny that was "rebuilt" at 150k with 240k on the odometer now should I rebuild it for less than 300 and just keep usuing stock si's for backups.....and rebuild , rinse , repeat? and keep doing so , or is it worth it to invest in a carbon synchro / LSD tranny ? what happens when that one breaks? another 1200 vs another 300? I cant decide and its holding up my build because I have the money I just dont want to spend it if Its not really worth it.... I mean a couple 1/10's of a second would be nice but I am not really any breaking any new grounds or trying to be mario andretti , just wanna have fun at the track with my turbo 4 banger.....going for 300whp ....

Your stock si trans will hold up. I've seen it in person. Get upgraded axles though you will need and a good clutch and you will be fine. Plus cable trans are a dime a dozen when they do go out. If your paying $300 for a cable si I think your gettin ripped sorry.
150 for dis-assembly and re-assembly... didnt seem bad to me... am I missing something?
local junkyard is selling them for 650 rebuilt.... and synchrotech is 600 as well for a re-built Si tranny... how is 300 a rip even if I was buying one for 300?
Most cable trans are going for ~150 - 200 bucks atleast what I'v been seeeing on my local forums n such.
As for me, I kept my trans and my axles stock, as the axles will break before the trans does. Free Lifetime replacement axles > new/rebuilt trans.

I am just rebuilding it so I can have a fresh motor , fresh tranny , and fresh suspension , I want to be like a new civic. they really needa bring back the EF and eg's man ..... im tellin ya
Yes that is what i was saying you can find cable trans for like 50-150 all day. ebay, junkyards, craigslist and here on h-t to. I personally would not pay more then 175 for a cable si trans. I'd rather just get a lower mileage one then spend $300 to rebuild one. You can do seals and bearings your self and save $$$$. go find a h/f or std trans to rip appart you can find them on the cheap. tear apart and put back together try it in your car to see if it works still. Do it a few times and you will know how and it will become easy.

Free lifetime replacement chinese axles just = a lifetime of replacing axles, no ****ing thanks.
Convert it to a hydro trans, that way you can actually get decent parts, should you need them.

Preload the mission and it will help a ton. If you snap something, stop. If by chance you blow a hole in the tranny, pull over, don't be a clown and do a victory oil lap.
Also if the trans has any issues at all like shifting or sounds diffrent after a run I pack it up and call it a day , no use doing more damage and realy messing things up when say you just had a bad slide or gear. One thing I will recomend is after you do blow up a trans pull it apart and learn how they work and take it apart and put it back together a few times. This will be helpfull if you do break lots of parts and dont work on your own transmissions right now.
when d-series trannys break it is usually the final drive gear.. they break the teath off the gear that goes on the diff.. i have broke one and a friend off mine did the same thing.. both si transmissions.. they were both 400 or so whp d-series builds..
