Default Timing mark vs Vtec question --

I put a new timing belt on my civic several months ago, and when i timed the bottom mark, i timed it wrong, i used the mark designated to the timing light, i ran the car for months like that, didnt know it was wrong, and even did a compression test a few times, 210psi... ok, then one day i decided to us my timing light to check the dizzy timing, and it wouldnt time right, after a little homework, i found out my original mistake, and retimed my belt..rechecked the dizzy with the light and it timed perfect, but!!! now my compression is 180psi, and i have lost power on initial pullout, these 2 timing marks must be where the vtec head work, moving the cam timing back and forth between them, is this right?.. if so why cant i just retime my engine to where i had the maxium(210) compression, it ran much better there...and would seem like an easy tweek for cheap power..

Did you jump the service connector when you adjusted the ignition timing? Did you align the pointer to the red mark (middle mark in group of three)?

Have you checked your valve clearance/lash?

Have you inspected the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor?

i did jumper, i set my timing(belt) with the mark all the way to the right, a mark by itself.. valves are fine, cap plugs fine..
