battery light comes on while driving...why?
After I have driven about 5-10 min. the battery light will flicker then turn off, then flicker again and stay on. After that happens the idle begins to fluctuate between 800 and 1200 rpm when im in nutral getting ready to stop. ONce I stop the idle stays at 1500. Any ideas? Why would the battery light stay on?
i dont think that would matter because belt is only use to rotate the alternator, i think your alternator is toasted get a new one or used one from junkyard and it should work right away. happened this to me before just change the alternator and get the right belt for your engine
test and change alternator if bad...also check your battery life if your running a strong amplifier without a capacitor...!!!

Put a voltmeter on the system and watch what happens while you drive around.
It probably is the alternator. It could be the ecu or battery. It could be a ground fault that's temperature sensitive in the wiring harness.
I don't like the idea of throwing parts at the problem, but sometimes that's all you can do.

I would assume it's because there's an abnormal power drain on the battery much in the same way your idle dips down when you turn on your headlights.
I was always told on here that whenever that light comes on, the alternator's the culprit. Tighten the belts, and if that doesn't work, get a new one.
