Default D16A runs like crap, new dizzy, plugs wires (srchd)

Well the old saying, "if it aint broke dont fix it" Def applies here. D16A vtec in a 91 crx. motor ran fine except for some low rpm sputter and hesitation, which I thought was the plugs. I decided to replace the plugs and thought, hell why not do the entire ignition system. Got a new dizzy, cap, rotor, wires, plugs. After the install, before I even got to time it something is very wrong. It sounds like its running on 3 cyls, even though all 4 injectors are firing. It just sounds soo terrible. Before I even time it, theres no way it should run as bad as this, right?. Any ideas?

Could it be that I installed the rotor on the dizz incorrectly? (I pointed it towards cyl1) Should I re-check the plug gaps? Should I set the motor to TDC, and then put the dizzy in? Thanks for any input.

Hmm, Im pretty sure they are on correctly with 1 and 4 on the side of the cap near the firewall, and 2 and 3 on the other. As for checking my coil, this is a brand new dizzy, what would I be checking on the coil exactly? Thanks for the replies! Also. more info...its running like so badly it backfires out the air intake pretty bad. I tried setting the crank to TDC (single white notch), and then put in the dizzy. But its still the same problem the motor sounds worse than a diesel tractor.

this is non-VTEC, but the wires at the distributor should be like the picture
