Default B17A1 rebuild

Ok, im getting ready to rebiuld my B17A1 in my CRX. Rings are shot and starting to smoke. Prolly going with Type R pistons and hopefully cams to. Im wondering if I put supertech (or some other brand) valvsprings in it, with a rebuilt bottom end (honda rod and main bearings), will it be safe to turn it 9000rpm. And yes i have a 4-1 header and custom sheet metal intake manifold that makes power that high, dyno chart proved that. And some unmentioned spray.

Thanks for any feedback

my bro built a unicorn block w/ type r pistons he had to run race gas constantly-a good tune is key.

I'd upgrade the rod bolts to ARP while you have it taken apart if you wanna rev to 9k. I wouldn't rev to 9 if you don't upgrade the cams

K i got another ? will type R pistons work in my B17? some people tell me they wont work, but i though all 1.6-1.8 pistons are the same in vtec B's, I thought it was the rods and cranks that changed and not the piston pin locations.

Yes; pretty much any B series piston is interchangeable if the bore is correct. You can calculate the CR here:

omniman answered all your questions in his 1st paragraph. so just ignore his 2nd paragraph and don't be so sensitive on an internet forum.

and if you weren't a "noobie", you'd know that building a b17 is just like building a b16. only difference is the b17 crank-81.4mm stroke /rod length- 132mm and the b16 has a 77.4 stroke and the rods are 134mm in length. but you probably already knew that

^^see you're questions were answered

yes that info is easy to find, i couldn't find wether or not the wrist pin location was the same on all the pistons.

Are you talking "ITR" pistons or "CTR" pct pistons ?
Someone correct me If I am wrong here but don't pr3 pistons have a higher dome than USDM or JDM ITR'S ? I am well aware that pct's are frickin tall as hell.

Different compression height on the ITR piston. 30.23 mm as opposed to 30.00

if using ctr pistons not for sure with itr, you will also have a machine shop grind the rods a little and rebalance them to fit the pistons.
