Default ek swap question

hey i was wondering if yall could help me out i havent done any honda swaps and was wondering if when doing a swap ive got the d16y7 in my hatch and was wanting to know if i could just buy a motor and use the 5sp trans outta my car and if so what motors does it bolt up to or just buy motor/trans set thanks in advance for any help.

you can use any d series motor and it will be compatible with your current tranny.

yea any D or even ZC will go right in; at the most needing a new ecu. if u want a B,H,K you need a lot of stuff to convert...

if u dont have vtec and get another non vtec motor, yes you can. but if you get a vtec id recommend gettin the corresponding ecu(one for vtec). it will run better..

if u stay d, u dont need axels. for wiring if u go vtec you need to wire it in. 5gen has the vtec wires there, idk bout 6gen. thats it though i think you can use your same harness too. the vtec motor should come with the silenoid and stuff like that; maybe even the ecu...

which would be the better option cause my hatch is a daily that goes over 120miles just to and from work a day i just want a little more power than ive got right now without goin crazy

To finish what he is saying if you do a non vtec motor you need to have to have matching ecu to the motor, its not as easy as non vtec and vtec ecus. you have obd's to worry about..

Since you are obd2a you should use a p2e for non vtec and p2p for vtec with 96-98 motors unless you use an older/newer motor.

so im thinkin DOHC ZC swap non-vtec and mine is a D16Y7 non-vtec so i could just buy the motor and use my trans, but also was tryin to find out if i could use my harness and ecu
