Default DIY : over flow radiator tank.

so i had the stock white/yellow/brown looking over flow for the radiator which looked pretty bad. I was looking at after market ones, which were more hidden and better looking, but price was just too high for something that didnt do much more than stock over flow. So i decided to make my own.

Material:

Bottle or any container.
knife
scissor
glue
tube
paint
clamp
(stuff that you can find at home)

spray can!

punch a hole at the top size of the tube that goes to the radiator. make sure to get all the stuff in side out after and also be careful, i thought i emptyed the can all the way, but i didnt and it burnt me a little while trying to use the lighter.

it fits!

get a clear tubing. and some flex tubing. i used the cover of a wire... ghetto much lol

punch one hole at the top and one at the bottom size of the flex tube.

and install the pieces, this will read the level of the water. use some super glue to keep the flex tube on the clear piece.

After paint..
I should of done a better job of painting.

installed with clamp and bolt.

not a $50 over flow, but does the job.

Impressive, always nice to get creative and save some money. I almost always am trying to figure out ways to rig up things before I blow a bunch of money on a part that costs a lot. Good to see I am not the only one! Well done!

Props to your creativity, but the OEM one looks better than that. That just looks ghetto.

Don't get me wrong, I respect the craftsmanship and creativity. I just think that the OEM one looks better.

Just checking a couple things... otherwise it won't function properly:
You made the tube in the top go almost all the way to the bottom of the reservoir, right?
Is it sealed at the top?

Creative, but what's to keep the bottom part of the level reader from leaking? Same with the top if it gets full.

Were those sealed at all?

last comment from me was not against you or anything I know its looks pretty ghetto and what not, but im just trying to give people the idea and they could make it look more legit(if they desire). if the container, paint and tubing was nicer and have some more tlc in it; it would look alot better. my oem was really dirty from i dk what it was but so i just decided to do it for kicks. i will prob redo it later.

and yes the tube goes all the way down.

do i need air tight seal on the overflow?
from what i understand, overflow doesnt not need air tight seal. i may be wrong. tho its pretty snug fit. if i need to i will just use a clamp.

ahh its raining!

black tube to the clear tube was super glued under.

I made the hole for black tube real snug so it wont leak. and it did not but i glued it later anyway just in case. and the top part is just a little snug, but if it needs to be sealed i would use a little hose clamp since that metal is thin and flexible.

i havent not seen any leakage yet

Oh, ok...I mainly just meant where the black piece is inserted into the bottom. Hard to tell from the pictures whether or not it's in there good or not.

Again, on creativity.
