1.) Get an alignment.

2.) Fix that radiator.

3.) Why in the hell are you bossting a freshly built motor?

You should deffinetly wait a while before even thinking about boosting it. yiu ciuld mess up your engine if you dont break it in.

The rings are seated within the first couple hundred miles of a motor being built. If they don't get seated quickly there isn't enough of an edge on the cross hatching to do anything to the rings.

If the motor was built right 15 psi wouldn't hurt it on break in. A 434 stroker SBC I built a while back saw 15 psi, WOT and damn near 10,000 rpm within an hour of it being built...

So much misinformation on this forum.....

*edit*

BTW I dig this car. I suggest that you do something a bit different with that radiator though. Half size is fine but the top, bottom and sides need to be pretty well sealed up so air doesn't "spill" out around the radiator instead of going through it.

[QUOTE=DrewZH;39217222]So much misinformation on this forum.....QUOTE]

LOL, I think you have been reading too much of Chevy High Performance... What did you do for the carburetor?

Please don't think because we work on / drive Honda's that this is all we do. You are new here and I see you think you got big *****, but you don't have to come out swinging. I will assure you that your stay here at HT will probably be short if you have that attitude.

Any clown knows that it is not proper to break in on boost. Do you have any idea what a ring will do when being forced towards the cylinder with a fresh *good* hone? I see you do not. In case you didn't know the ring could possibly twist and cause a ring land to break or the ring itself to break. Also 10k on a SBC is doable but you better have a **** ton of expensive parts and balancing done, even NASCAR only turns about 9k...

So I call B/S on what you are trying to tell the OP, and OP don't take his advice please. Just because someone did it once and got away with it does not mean it should be taken into common practice.

Also about the radiator comment... Have you noticed Chevy Boy, Honda radiators are not sealed from the factory from at least 2000's on Down... Honda's are much more efficient than Chevy Motors will ever be.

The rings do seat within the first few hundred miles with the initial seating being done at start-up break in.

Not carburated. Ran BigStuff 3 engine management with Mike Moran's 500lb/hr injectors. Bryant billet crank. Bill Miller rods and custom cut JE pistons for the RFD ported brodix 13 degree heads. Full Jesel valvetrain and a PT101 turbo to run in Pro RWD.

That's fine if you call BS. Whatever. The only time I've broken a ringland was on a poor tune.

Think about it like this, more and more cars are becoming factory turbocharged. Do you think the dealer sells a brand new car and tells the customer to come back after 2-3,000 miles to install the turbo.

The radiators are sealed from the factory. I'm not talking about like.. full sealing, just that stupid foam around the radiator itself (that's on every car I've ever worked on). I was just trying to make the point that he needs to minimize the gaps between the core support and the radiator itself.

Don't ****ing call me chevy boy. That's the only one I've ever worked on. Everything else I've done in the past 10 years has been import related. Who the **** cares about how efficient it is, it still makes 1800hp.

I'm off to finish a S14 roll cage rather than sit here and bench race all day. Come back and talk **** when you build something that goes faster than 12's.
