Hood Clearance Issues??
I recently picked up a civic hatch with a B18 Turbo and the guy had to move unexpectedly and had this turbo lying around. The only problem is it didn't clear the hood so he cut a hole threw the hood. My question is, what turbo will clear the hood or do I need to buy an aftermarket hood? The current Garrett turbo a/r ratios are the same as a GT45 so it is a rather large turbo I am assuming. Anyways, I included a pic below and hopefully I will be able to add more once I get them uploaded.

Damn! Thats some hole, be careful that the surrounding edges don't rust out on you. They already seem to be slowly corroding. I was thinking hood spacers would maybe fix the problem but I'm not positive. It might just clear it with some hood spacers. Try it out and see, I really wouldn't go the aftermarket hood route unless its absolutely necessary. Good luck
That snail is silly... I'm not sure if its the topmount positioning the turbo higher than normal or if the COMP cover is just grossly large...
yuck.... no offence.... but that looks terrible.
I say find an oem hood (not always easy, i know) and start looking for a turbo that will work without any sort of 'custom mod' work.
I see this is your first post, so welcome. but with a name like "sleeper special", i am assuming you like to keep things factory looking. Good luck, and ditch or trade that turbo in!!!

my setup is the same way, but instead of hacking up my hood i took a rubber mallet and beat out a little hump. once i smooth it out a bit and repaint it will actualy look decent. I have searched all over to find a production hood made specificaly for this issue and came up empty handed.
Yeah, I am hating the hole in the hood right now. I like the idea of running an oem hood if possible. I do appreciate the compliments on the car and hopefully I will get past this problem. I will look into the hood spacers because I haven't thought about doing that yet. The top mount header pipe and downpipe are made by love fab. I am not sure if that matters.
Go down to AutoZone or w/e you have by you and get one of those stick on hood scoops you see all the "cool" people driving around with. That way you will at least cover up that monstrosity for the mean time.
