Can someone give me a little list of good amps please? Not ones that say they are rated for like 2000 watts but actually put out like 600. Im lookin for a like 1200-1600 watt amp for around $200 for my 2 kickers

Phoenix gold has the ryval series. They are inexpensive and a good product.

 

1. your simply not gonna find a "new" amp at retail for that price thats good in that power range, but you can definitely find them used if you search craigslist and soundoff.org forums, etc..

2. Your lacking info.. are these subs dvc 4ohm? dvc 2ohm? svc? whats up?

i can suggest mono amps all day long, but suggesting 1ohm stable mono amps is not gonna help you if you have dvc 2ohm subs ya know.. gotta know more before anyone can help..

i ordered a 2000 watt power acoustik amp my friend that works at best buy says they are pretty good and hes gonna get me a cheap amp kit they amp is rated 900 watts @ 2 ohms and from what ive been reading they arnt over rated

 

no offense, but if someone told me power acoustik was a good amp i would nearly die laughing at them. pa is way way way way down there on the amp totem pole

 

ill see what it sounds like when i get it i dont need to much right now i just want something cause the speakers in the car a lone arnt cutting it so even a little bass would be nice

 

so you never answered the question about the subs.. what vc configuration are they? and whats the amp model number?

 

Hifonics have actually had some good amps coming out. Phoenix Gold as mentioned are really good but I'm not sure if they're not made anymore?

EDIT: I remember now, the amp that phoenix gold once made put out a lot more power than what it said it was rated for but that model was discontinued.

well your gonna be running a 2ohm load on a 1ohm stable amp, i guess your amp won't be running hot, good thing.. probably will help it last longer.

 

i just need it to last until i get a job cause right now i dont make much money. i get most of my money from fixing and moding xboxs =p

 

i see alot of good amp companies already listed here so i wont say the same thing twice, but for the buyer on a tight budget i reccomend the AP line from Audiopipe... they are CEA rated amps, so you know they do rated power.

below is a link to an AP15001d, that amp does 1500 watts rms @ 1 ohm and will run .5 ohms no problem

i say this with confidence because i have installed these amps for quite a few people around my way.

yea but you can't really justify saying maxxsonics is hifonics, because when they quit making hifonics in chicago it all went to pure trash, and since then they have went from being manufactureed in china to taiwan. that stuff wont last you long at all.. i would take a small quality amp over a high powered cheapo amp anyday.

Theres only a handful of amps made in USA...heck i cant name one, maybe RF?

All big names are all from Korea now...all Zenon based, and all great...along with Hifonics...and anything Maxxsonics makes...Crunch,Autotek etc.

 

im not following you... Maxxonics still owns the rights to the Hifonics brand... so wouldnt a Hifonics amp still be a Maxxonics product

Zenon isnt the only Amplifier Buildhouse that builds for some of those top companies

yea jl / series are great amps, i guess i just have this "spl" mindset. i would never buy a jl amp unless it was a daily driver/quality based system.. those amps are not any good when trying to compete in power classes.. but yes, jl = great quality.

 

i would never say JL is a bad product... just a very overpriced product...

yea JL is pretty high, i worked at a jl dealer once and even dealers costs is expensive, but they do have an awesome employee discount, 75% off retail if you buy there wiring kit too..
no the thread is not about powerclassing.. i just said i have a spl mindset and to me other amps don't matter.. so i don't think about them much...
