Icon3 97 civic fan speed blower switch only works on 3,4

i was driving my car today when i was on "2" fan blower speed and suddenly the fan stopped blow any air, so i moved the switch to "3" and it started to blow the air at "3" speed again.
now i try to go back to 1 or 2, there is not air come from the vents. so its only work on 3 and max speed.
is this the climate control head unit failure or the blower?

Most likely it is the Blower Motor Resistor.

Had this happen to me this winter but only max would work, replaced the Blower Motor Resistor and all was good.

part number for 96-98 is:79330-SR3-A01
its different for 99-00

and since i didn't even know the blower was supposed to turn on for 1,2 i took out my resistor and had a look.. im assuming this is what you don't want it to look like.

EDIT:: thanks 'N3va3vaSatisfi3d' looks like i need to go order some parts.

I'm just resurrecting this thread because the car I just bought has this issue. How does one access these resistors?

So i am having this problem now, Would the Resister cause my blower motor to make a funny sound as well as not working on 1 or 2?

Please help with my issue, i need to know if this would cause a funny noise in addition to the first 2 heat settings not working. Also if this could damage my car.

Thank you! So if worst comes to worst do you think it would be the actual blower motor or something clogged up?

Might be the blower motor's plastic fan wheel wobbling and hitting the sides of the motor's casing. Easy to remove fan/ blower motor.. search youtubes.
