Default Racing gas/Higher Octane gas?

I was considering using higher octane unleaded gas, (100,104,108, will find out whats available once decide to buy it). I seen post about leaded gas could destroy cat/O2 sensor.

Currently I use 93/94 (stock motor with i/h/e tuned..)
I seen turbo cars up the boost when running higher octane gas. And some posts with good dyno numbers while on racing gas.

1. Would I see any benefits with stock internals?
2. What mods respond good to higher octane gas?
3. What possible damages could there be from higher octane gas - unleaded?

1. internals have nothing to do with it
2. advanced timing
3. your car will run less efficently because the octane rating is too high

Most I've seen using higher octane are cars with high compression or advanced timing. When I go to the track I buy either 96 or 100 octane just because the car pings at 18 degrees.

A friend of mine advanced his timing to the max on his Itr and ran 100/106 octane, he has stock internals, just bolt ons.

you need higher octane when you run more compression, or change your timing. This is because higher octane = resiststivity to pre-combustion. If your running fine (no knock etc..) on lower octane, there is no requirement to run higher.

True, higher octane burns more efficient and cleaner so using it will give you better mileage. As far as using high octane, i don't see how it can be detrimental like the last post said to your engine....

-Rage - 94 Octane ONLY in his GSR.

Higher octane burns slower, and in a more controlled manner...gives you less of a chance of pre-ignition, and allows you to advance the ignition or run higher boost levels.
