a/c fan slows-dealer clueless
Two weeks ago I'm driving at highway speeds with a/c on. Fan starts running slower and slower whether on fresh air or recirc. After sitting an hour at the Dentist's office, fan back to running at normal speed. Take it to the dealer and they say it needs to have a new dust and pollen filter. I have it done, then don't use the car for two weeks while on M/C trip. Yesterday I'm driving to Tucson at highway speeds and fan starts running slower and slower again. I stop at the same dealer while it's running slower so that they can see I've got the exact same problem. I bring it in today for a real fix, and the dealer doesn't have a clue as to the problem. Of course this morning, after sitting all night, everythings back to normal.
Dealer suggests that it "may" be the motor malfunctioning because they do that "sometimes" when they get hot. I inquire if they have run any electrical tests on the motor to verify it's no good. No, they haven't, but they suggest I spend $165 for parts and labor to replace the motor. Sounds like the old days when you bought your TV in for repair and the technician started swapping tubes till he found the problem. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be. Anyone know where I can download assembly explosions so I can do the work myself?
Thanks
