Default Kre8speed's dd N/A build plan

Ok so I am trying to come up with a build plan for my self and after much research I think that i have one for my dd.

This is going to be a poor man's type r:

B18c1 GSR Block

Stock rods
OS P30 81.25mm over bore pistons
3 layer oem head gasket
arp head studs
new p72 oil and water pump
oem rings
oem bearings
balance/ micro polished cranke/hone

should have 11.32:1 comp. with this set up.

B16a head

mild port
type r intake manni and TB
hondata IM gasket
skunk 2 stage 2 cams and vt
3 angle valve job.
new oem valve seals

Ecu
hondata s300

I am looking into more for the motor but wanted to get your ideas on my build plan.

I am looking for a good header for this motor. I need some ideas but I am thinking of running a jdm typr r 4 into 1 header (for now). May look into a hyltech type r header or smsp. (if money in there for the cost of those headers)

I want to do a 2.5 exhaust set up.

Please I am putting this build together things can change at any time I just want some feed back.

Thanks
Kris

Since I sold my crx this motor will be going into a EJ1 or a EJ8 I haven't decided which one yet but leaning towards a EJ8. Keep in mind though this is a build plan I am not building this motor yet. I like to come up with a solid build plan before I spend money. I just like to get input.

Its been done a million times. It will be fun to drive, and dependable when assembled/tuned correctly.

Get oversized pistons and have the block bored to match.

put it into an EJ8 for sure, without a doubt. leaps and bounds nicer than anything from the EG family. do the SMS header, if not for anything, for the ground clearance. i realize they are expensive, but this is something that you get something to show for your money spent. youll always have it, and itll always last. i dont think a grand is too much for a header that you could be buried with. leave the AC and PS and youll basically have an EM1 with a lot more *****.

Where do you want your power to be had? What is your max rpm that you want to rev to?

power wise I would like to see between 180 and 200 whp. I am using a gsr tranny with a type r lsd and mabe a type r final. I do want to get the smp but I will prob. just start out with the type r 4 to 1 for now. I would like to keep the stock bore as well. I am going to daily drive and want to keep thing simple. RPM wise 9k is good, and track times I would be happy with a mid 13 down the 1320. I am going to keep full interior and a/c and p/s. I am planing on a wire tuck and for the most part a stock looking exterior.

You could definately achieve those goals with a overbore to 81.50 and a nice header.

I might consider a Toda B or even the Pro1 for your camshaft selection. The Toda would be easier to tune, but the Pro1 has more potential....just depends on your tuner. My old roomate realized "better" results when he switched from B. Crower 2's to S2S2's. Not saying they are bad, but I do believe you could make more with a different camshaft.

You will not get a good ring seal with stock bore sized pistons. If you want to do this build properly, go with 81.5 mm bore or do it the way you want to and put up with the poor results.

I was going to go with the skunk 2 series two but I liked the bc cams. But like I said I want to do this right and if there is a chance to make alittle more power than I am all for it.

forget 81.5. this is a reliable daily, so go to honda and order the "OS" P30. its 81.25, comes with honda rings and they are about 150ish-200 for 4. its what you need to freshen up an 81mm block. that way you dont have to dick around with RS.

Ok that sounds good and that is a good price for the pistons and rings. I can see that alittle of en overbore is going to straiten up the bore for better ring seat and seal. point taken.

Thanks

Hmotorsonline sells the p30 pistons at a great price and has them in stock.

I used arp rod bolts in my B18C for a little extra reliability. What valvetrain and injectors you gonna run?
