Default dc5 coilover install, ran into a problem....

Ok, so I just got a set of ground controls in yesterday and decided to start on it today since I just got out of work.....here's the stipulation:

the ground controls are for 02-04 RSX and made for koni yellows.

The owner that I purchased these from used them on his 05-06 rsx (atleast thats what I was told) and mines is also a '06 model. The rears needed the removal of the black round ring inside the sleeve so they can fit stock struts and I have done that already.

Here's the problem now, I just jacked up the car and took off the driver front wheel and noticed that the springs is almost triple the size of my coilovers, am I missing something here? I tried to look at the spring/coilover install thread but none of the pics work, so can anyone tell me if this is right?

Here are pictures that I took just now for reference....

you aren't missing anything, coilover kits and full blown coilovers do use a smaller spring than the factory one or lowering springs you may be use to. ground controls come in a whole slew of spring rates which is the one area you DO need to be careful if you run a stock strut. the second area is with how you want the car to ride. a 650f 600R autocross setup will rattle your teeth on bumpy roads

thats how they are on all sleeve over coilover kits.
if they are made for konis then buy konis and toss your stock shocks in the trash.

well, after the install last night it didn't go to well. The rears seem to fit fine, but the fronts are lifted, my car looks like a 4runner now. So I'm gonna go ahead and order koni's off clubrsx just for the front for now.

Also after some research, people say you have to grind down the perches so you can go low with the ground control koni setup. Why do you have to do this? So I can't just buy the konis and throw them on?

you need to be sure what diameter your strut is before ordering the konis... they come in 50mm and 55mm versions... just a heads up... and if you don't know, you have to hack your stock struts in order to use the konis... they are more or less a retrofit'd shock insert... do more research... check out k-series and clubrsx.com...

Can't you just adjust the ride height using the coilover sleeve? I may be missing something but it sounds like the front ride height is too high. Just adjust the coilovers.

I am at stock hight, I have have my car set up to handle. I am running 7X17's with 225/45-17's XS's...the extra size gives me a little more top end in second gear in autoX.

225/45-17's are any where from .75 to 1 inch larger dia than stock...a bigger tire = no wheel gap
