Default MSD Ignition Problem

I'm about to buy a 1991 Honda Civic HB w/ DOHC ZC engine that's all hooked up to, I believe, a 6A or 6AL MSD Ignition Box along with an MSD coil (not sure of the series, might help though). The engine and MSD have been running fine until recently. The car gets parked through the winter with a start every week or so and it was taken out earlier in the year to be driven as a daily. This is the problem, the engine is starting to sputter.

Now the engine itself has less then 60k miles on it so I know it's no sort of mis-fire. I'm 90% sure it's coming from the MSD ignition or coil. I've been told I can just re-wire it and it should be good. I've also been told the MSD box will just go bad sometimes and I should replace it, and I've also been told that I can send the box in to be re-built by MSD.

Anyone know anything or maybe a similiar problem has accured? Thanks for the help in advance. Hopefully I can get some pictures up soon cause I know someone will ask.

I would just use the coil, and not the box. Honda ignition systems are good to high hp, unless your shooting nitrous, boosting or high comp motor.

So just rip the MSD box out and use the MSD coil through a stock ignition box? Since it's runnin a DOHC zc, can I still retain a stock civic HB ignition box?
