Default random misfire problem in a obd2 b18b1

ok so heres the deal, ive had my valves adjusted, new sparkplugs/wires, basically a whole new distributor and i still read random misfire from cyl 1-4. somtimes it would switch up like 1-3 or 2-4 kinda random. When i run my obd1 LS ecu i would not receive any codes. would it be because im using my SOHC alternator? im about to switch it to a B series one when i get a chance but thats the one i have for now. I also believe the sensors that the OBD2 is reading that the obd1 is not have gone bad. a friend of mine told me that the obd1 ecu doesnt read all of the sensors a obd2 would. what can cause the random misfire? help plz thankss!

also can it be the ECU's problem? we dont know if it is or not because when we did the swap it was raining and water could of seeped into the ECU. im trying to see if i can borrow my friends ECU to test if it works or not.
