Help Deciding what motor to build for Turbo build. Single Cam VS DOHC?
Well, yea im the guy who traded my Honda for a 5.0 Mustang well now i bought my Honda back. it has a JDM D15B with Y8 Head and P28 ECU in it but needs a new block cuz the bolts that hold the motor mount to the block are stripped. so i also have a D16z6 Block stripped it has good pistons and rod but crankshaft has a stripped pulley bolt in it.
So with all these parts what should i do for a single cam boost? I'm wanting 350WHP or more is my goal. so if you guys could help me find all the parts i need to build the single cam and make it bullet proof let me know! this is my main goal single cam turbo.
Ok, Second thought i can get a GSR motor for $400 and tranny for 200 and turbo it? but then again that motor is hot.
I have $1200 cash saved up and it was all goin into my mustang untill my buddy gave me the ride of my life in his EG coupe with slow LS in it. he turboed it at 12 PSI and that car pulled harder then any car i ever been in. after that i said screw the mustang. turbo HONDA!!!
i need you guys help for a cheap but strong build! If single cam is the cheapest route and can put the power out with out coming apart then you guys throw me some advice!

So, this is main question, buy LS Motor stock and stock tranny and turbo it? Build me a bad *** Single Cam? or buy GSR?
GSR engine for $400? I want your discount.....
For a budget build LS turbo is the way to go. They can handle 300whp in stock form with a good tune and are extremely cheap and easy to replace...

in the FI thread there are sohc putting down some impressive numbers. but most of them are built to get into the 300whp range. id say get a LS!
I would go with LS instead of gsr for turbo because of the low compression pistons. Like roadsqueegy95 said, SOHC turbo built get into the 300whp range. I seen it myself because I know someone who has built a sohc turbo before. Its all up to you though.
for the longest time i wanted to boost my sohc i have a y8 but for the time and money I am in the process of building a n/a gsr (or boost it i'm not sure yet). if you want the simplest route boost a ls if you want a challenge build your sohc if you want a sick car do a mild build and boost of the gsr. one thing to consider though if you wanna make 300+ on a sohc you wont be running pump gas... best of luck with what ever you decide.
Get a B18B and booost it.

Not really true. SOHC with vitara pistons can run into the 300's on pump gas no problem. if you get a bigger turbo and cam and a good tune you could get low-mid 300's on maybe 17psi
So either build and boost a SOHC or Go LS Turbo? cause ill tell you what that 15PSI on Stock LS scared me and i wanna get my **** to pull harder then his.
I wanna turbo a Non V Tec motor so when i go to dyno tune it i dont have to go through more **** to hit v tec harder. if i keep the SOHC V tec ill disconnect V Tec. I liked how the LS pulled harder and harder all the way to red line without a v tec kicken in and ****ing stuff up.
i wouldnt realy worry about tuning vtec so it hits "harder" thats y i got a tuner haha and pay him 100 bucks a hr! ya man deff dont support theives! hell call the ****en cops on that **** could be someones engine and tranny from H-T!
Yea^^^ Well I'm looking for a budget build! Thats why i was thinking of building a SOHC and boosting it. Specially cause i cant find any cheap LS motors and cheapest is like 600 and what if it starts knocking a week later? why not that 600 bux into a SOHC and have bad *** pistons and new bearings and everything fresh?
Yea, Alright guys i made my mind up! SOHC it is! Now I need you're guys advice and all on building it! what pistons and rods and crank?
