Fair Price for Install
Hey guys,
I just got a quote of $341 to install my US Acoustics 4-channel amp, my MB Quart front components with crossovers, and my Infinity rear coaxials. That price includes running all neccessary wires and all neccessary parts and labor.
Is this a bad - good - fair price? I have already taken out my rear speakers and ghetto-duct-taped the Infinity speakers into my system, but I had a problem with bolting them down - holes are off-place - so I just asked the shop to do it.
Let me know what you think,
Ben

Yes Ben the price seems to be within reason based on avg shop rates and the type of equipment going in...but in fairness there is really no standard because each car/person/install is unique.

I think its too much 342 USD =554 CAD and there is no way i'm paying half a grand to get someone to install and amp and 4 speakers.
The hardest part of that job is installing the rear speakers, because there might be panel removing required...The amp install I honestly think anyone can learn to do with a friend, and the front speakers are literally a pop off door, unscrew, rescrew job.
If you are going to pay that price, ask about what size wire your power and ground will be. And what size wire will be run to the speakers (make sure they are installing new runs..sorta obvious with a 4chan amp).
For that money, you should get nice fuses, distribution blocks, 4 gauge power and ground, seperate remote wire. Try to get them to install 12 gauge speaker wire all around (i usually advise 16..but hey..your paying a lot, and 12 gauge is a bitch to install..so let them do it!)
Make sure its all OFC wire (oxygen free).
Just my .02 cents and change

rear speaker install 40
component speaker install 80
amp install 90
labor is 210
that leaves 130 bux for parts.. good set of 4 channel rcas will run you 60 bux, plus an amp wiring kit is usually about another 70 bux and you will need other small little parts like speaker harnesses and such.. there you go man i broke it down for you, it is a reasonable price to have the stuff professionally installed, if they F*ck anything up while they install it they fix it as to where if you f*ck something up u gotta cover it..
