Default light wieght flywheel

i have a gsr motor and turbo. people are telling me to leave the flywheel stock
my question is why? whats wrong with getting a lighter flywheel? its like 20lbs right now.

The disadvantage that people are talking about with turbo motors is related to spool speed. Because of the lighter flywheel, your engine is under less load. It's like trying to build max boost in 1st gear and 5th gear. If you're starting to build psi from low RPM's in 1st gear, you'll notice you'll make full boost later compared to 5th gear because of the increased load in 5th gear. However, one advantage is that you will be quicker in your revs. On my turbo accord, I went with Competitions Lightened flywheel (not the Ultra-Light). It's roughly 11-12lbs and I don't push enough boost to worry about the delayed spool. Just remember, YOU'RE NOT LOSING TORQUE WITH A LIGHTENED FLYWHEEL! It's about load.
