Default 4 bolt vs 5 bolt

It seems like over time, more cars are going from 4 bolt to 5 bolt. I can throw out a few guesses and be sort of right.

But I want to hear from the experts to educate me.

Yes, they are. Cars are also tending towards larger wheels. Cars are getting bigger and heavier, and the engines are getting more powerful. All part of the same thing...

I'll stick to my 4-lug setup.

As Ken stated, it's all based on weight and power. An increase in both would require more strength to keep the wheel attached.

5 lug racing wheels come pretty wide off the shelve as well. Reason I am doing a conversion.
