Default Guys at the EPA can't verify my CAT, can you help?

It's off of a Megan Racing Cat-back system....it came with the car when I got it, so I don't have documentation...

Megan Racing's site says it's for off road use only...

The megan racing 'cat' is just a resonator shaped like a cat, it costs like 20 bucks on ebay and does nothing except make your car fail emissions. "off road use" means: off road use, as in not for public roads and highways.

I'm curious how lenient the smog checks are in OH, because you shouldn't have been able to register a car with out a cat I thought? (Or maybe I just too use to how California is...)

I'm also not sure about the law in OH, but it is illegal to sell a car that can't pass emissions here in CA. The previous owner needs to 'fix' it for you.

Just as everyone else said....you dont have a cat. I doubt OH laws are as strict and I highly doubt they have anything that says the previous owner has to fix anything (you bought it like that, so its on you).

Note to the peeps in CA - TX still always you to shoot people as they run away from your neighbors house stealing stuff. In CA, they'd tell you that you have no right to protect your neighbors property and that you/your neighbor should've done more to prevent the theif from having the chance to break in (double fence, security system, cameras, etc) and you'd be going to jail.

Yeah, I know the "off road only" was a red flag..but I was sort of desperate. I was not aware that it was just a resonator...is that only something that comes with crappy brands like megan? Ohio isn't too strict, I don't think...they almost let me through with that...

Ironically, the previous owner lied because... The check engine light was on so I had him get it passed echeck before I bought it from him (2 years ago), and he said they just had to clean off the O2 sensors to get the check engine light off... but I'm pretty sure he put the oem cat/exhaust back on it... anyways..I have the cat, so I'm gonna try to find a piece laying around to hook it up with the cat-back.

Sorry for the desperate post...I was on the phone with the EPA guy as I clicked Submit...my bad

Yes, Texas still does some things right compared to California.

Though, I do question the sanity of any state that allows drive through liquor stores...
