99 BMW M Coupe
Picked this up about four weeks ago from Ohio. Stock... for now.

Since these photos were taken I've added the OEM cd player back in, done some more detailing and have some shocks/springs/bushings waiting to go on once I find some time again. Also flashed the ECU with Dinan St. 1. +10hp
It took a lot (of a car) to get me out of my old crx, but I'm quite content with my new purchase. Link to my old crx, that sold in less than a week. http://hondamarketplace.com/showthread.php?t=2579928

hum... I never liked that model.
It just doesn't look right. If I were go with a BMW it would have to be very small boxy & lighter car or a much larger 7 series. Anything in the middle is not as competive has midrange honda/toyota's.

Most retarded statement of 2009. Thanks.
Im going to take a wild guess and say that you participate in the S2k forum.
Lol if I fit inside an s2k I'd own one. If my camera gear could fit inside one I'd think about losing weight.
I got a decent price for it. But the CRX def didn't cover it lol.

You can find M Coupes in the $13-17k range for the S52 motor. A S54 (2001 only) will easily get $25k or more in some instances. Of course, it always depends on miles and condition/history.
There is a real nice black/black one for sale here in GA for $15k.
Its a pretty stout car with a bulletproof drivetrain. You have to be mindful that the rear subframe has known to crack but it is repairable and rare. You can always reinforce it as a preventive measure. Typical suspension and cooling system maintenance as with any BMW is to be expected.
The M Coupe rear axle is that of the E30, so the original subframe bushings and rear trailing arms bushings are recomended to be replaced at 75k typically. A laborious task but not impossible to do in the garage as I have done on my E30. A shop will generally bill $1000 for this kind of service.
However, all of this is a small price to pay for what Automobile magazine has hallmarked as one of the best auto designs of the century.
"1999 - 2002 BMW M coupe | A Rare and Uncompromised Beast
By Jason Cammisa
In February 1999, automotive design editor Robert Cumberford called the BMW M coupe ugly, and then he selected it as the Design of the Year. "It is not beautiful (at all); brutal is a much better word to describe its appearance," he wrote. "It is the toughest-looking sports car on the world market; not even a Ferrari F50 states an uncompromising visual case as strongly."
And its aggressive looks weren't just skin-deep. Although the M roadster didn't quite live up to the dynamic expectations promised by its styling, the addition of a roof more than doubled torsional stiffness. With uprated springs, dampers, and antiroll bars to match the increased chassis rigidity, the car's handling was transformed - and the M coupe felt like an altogether different car than the roadster. The burly M coupe was a bit of a handful and didn't exhibit the fine balance of, say, a Porsche Boxster. But it was so much fun that it had us asking if the BMW was, perhaps, more true to the Porsche 911 ethos than even the new-for-1999 911 was.
All M coupes had 3.2-liter in-line sixes under the hood - initially the 240-hp engine from the E36-generation M3. But that smooth, torquey engine wasn't designed by the M division, it was merely a bored and stroked regular BMW six with hot cams. The real M engine came in 2001, when the E46 M3's screaming, six-throttle 3.2-liter was slotted under the M coupe's bulging hood. It belted out 315 hp on its way to a lofty 7600-rpm redline, screaming like a chain saw and heaving the little bread box to 60 mph in five seconds flat, according to BMW.
Whether you prefer the quiet stormer or the frenetic buzz saw, good taste demands that you avoid the horrible two-tone Smurf-blue or Coca-Cola-red interiors. And be sure to check the differential mounts before you buy an M coupe; over years of abuse, the spot welds can separate from the floor, resulting in a very expensive - or even hopeless - repair. Cooling systems and rear shock mounts require more frequent attention than usual, but that's a small price to pay for a stunning performer that looks like nothing else and remains one of the most entertaining sports cars of all time."

they rule. hands down. i get compliments in almost every parking lot. i felt really bad tearing the interior apart this evening, preparing to install the rear suspension next week. it took me 2 hrs disassembling that

I have subframe bushings, but I don't know if we'll get them installed or not. Soo expensive, or we might result to burning/hammering out the old ones v. the special tool
