Painting Over Primer
I feel like I could have searched a little bit better, but it seems like i just cant find the answer to my question. I do know painting over diff types of primer (Urethane Primer, Epoxy Primer, Lacquer Primer & Self Etching Primer) with diff types of base can give u nasty results.. My question is this.
My car has been primered for 2 years now, due to moving a lot (no choice) and never had the chance to.. my life has been busy with moving and work taking care of family, etc.. I Do not know the type of primer it was. I do know it was bought at dupont and sprayed with it, so no it is not rattle canned. I just cant remember the brand for the life of me or if it was Urethane Primer, Epoxy Primer, Lacquer Primer or Self Etching Primer.
Is it ok to paint over it now with Urethane base coat and clear coat?, or should i just sand it all down and re primer it? (i really do not wanna do that lol but i will if it will have a bad chemical reaction).. I figured with it being 2 years old and rained on (I have yet to wet sand it yet, i never got a chance to do that either) there shouldn't be any harm done. Thought I would ask first though.
