Default type r build

First off i know this is the itr forum and ill be up front i dont have a real ITR I have a 94 4 door with a full b18c5 swap out of a 2000 R. I would post this in the turbo section but i want the POV from the real R owners. I have a turbonetics t3 turbo and am in a position to just put everything together, heres my question(s)

Is the stock valvetrain strong enough for the turbo? I realize it depends on how much boost i run and for a stock motor i would run a conservative 8-10 LBS. Will the motor handle it. I know these motors are amazing and hands down there isnt another motor i would rather turbo than a C5. I am very impressed with the motor itself in stock form but i just want to turbo and run with it. With a low compression setup i would like to be right around 300 HP.

Is it smart to stick with the stock R cams or a turbo app?

Any replies would be helpful, like i said i would rather go with the POV from guys with type r's rather than post this in the FI section. Thanks and any replies are much appreciated and valued.

If all you want is 300 whp, there is no need to change anything internally. Just be sure that the motor is good and healthy.

i still want to run low compression but for now it will stay stock until i can afford to build the valvetrain and sleeve the block.

How do you plan on lowering compression, without ripping the motor apart?

Whenever you decide to lower compression, that is the time to sleeve the block as well, to avoid paying for things twice.

Your stock motor is completely capable of handling 300 whp.

Honestly, it sounds like you need to do a LOT more research.

Good luck.

Keep the cams, valvetrain good for upwards of 500whp. I tuned my 97 on 8psi, made 293whp on mustang dyno.. Very conservative timing, touch rich, since the only thing I did was cometic headgasket and arp headstuds..
