just bought this car couple weeks ago for my sister. I believe the alarm is a Viper350HV....its the basic one they sell at best buy. IT does have relays for the door locks and stuff.
Everything on the alarm works fine EXCEPT the siren. Orginally when I got the car, the siren didn't work at all. There was no ground So I grounded the siren and it works but it was very soft...So i thought it was a bad siren. I changed it out to a DEI 514 soft chirp one but still the same thing. I check to see how much power is at the power wire to the siren from the brain and its at 1v...pretty sure its suppose to be more. My guess is something wired wrong? or power to the brain? I have to drop the lower console and take a look at the wiring under there. Last time I checked the wiring was a mess for the alarm so I guess i'm going to rewire it while I try to fix the siren.
anybody have suggestions?

Did you let the alarm go full trigger or just armed it. Most of all dei alarm have soft chirp when armed. But they can also be programmed to full siren if the owner wants.

full trigger and it was really soft. arming and disarming was also way too soft. i was thining it needs to be reprogrammed then i measured the voltage coming out of the power wire to siren from the brain and it was barely a volt.

Check and make sure there is no short from the siren wire to the alarm brain. I seen crappy installers just run the wire thru a drilled hole in the firewall. Make sure the alarm brain is grounded. If all this pans out good. Time for a new alarm brain. I think I have a extra brain of that model here that i will swap you for you at no charge if you pay for shipping both ways.

thanks i'll check it out. i'm pretty sure it will be some kind of short somewhere....the guy who did the alarm did a REALLLLLY bad job...wires are everywhere. i just didn't have time to fix it...but i guess i'll have to tm when i look under there tomorrow. the wire for the siren is actually run some hole under the brake booster...i'll take a look and let you know what i find. I just want to make sure i check everything and dont miss anything. I was wondering why the new siren was so soft..i was like no way it could sound like that.

Check and let us know. We will get you thru this. It might be better to pull the whole system out and preppep it and put it back in. Are you trying to use this for security?

GOT IT FIXED!!thanks guys
so the brain had no ground...the black wire coming from it was not grounded it at all...so I checked it by just using that wire and just grounding it and it worked fine. So i found a ground and now it works.
Also got the parking lights to flash now as well.
This will all be temporaily until i get more time to get a better and cleaner install. This just took me about 30 minutes to fix but i'll do it again when i have some time in a few weeks.
