I am selling my Nikon D40 digital camera with:

- Camera strap, eyepiece and accessory shoe caps, rubber eyecup and software CD-ROM I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA IN JAPAN WHILE A TRIP SO THE MANUAL IS IN JAPANESE


This is easily a $900+ value but it isn't working. If you are electronically inclined or willing to invest another $150 into sending it to the Nikon dealer for repairs, then this would be a major deal and savings for you.

The camera has never been dropped, in excellent condition, less than a year old

the camera has two issues:

1) the shutter sticks. I have been quoted by non-nikon dealers $80 - $100 to repair. For Nikon dealers the repair has been quoted at $150 to fix all..

2) the data cable ribbon that goes to the screen on the back of the camera needs adjusting because the screen is usually dark and grainy, but any wiggling of the cable and the screen becomes sharp and crystal clear. So it appears to be a connection issue.
