Changing wheel bearing on 88 hatchback
I have a bad wheel bearing on my right front and have already bought the replacement from Advance Auto, now I'm ready to install. Can anyone point me in the right direction before I try this blind folded? I'm sure there isn't much to it but I want to know what to expect and how long it -should- take me. Thanks a lot

I have a press in the garage so that won't be as much of an issue as i had thought it may be. I'm just in need of someone to give me an idea of how long this should take to do it yourself and what kind of problems i should expect. thanks

just make sure to have a good assortment of collars and plates to press the right part of the bearing. taking the knuckle off should take less than 30 mins, then pressing it in and out another 30 mins and then another 30 mins to put it all back together.
The one thing I remember my buddy running into on mine was the seperating the hub from the bearing. The bearing came apart and it was a real bitch to get the racer off of the hub.
I'm pretty confident I can do this myself. After all, I own a small assortment of Snap-On tools and you know that qualifies me.
But all in all, I'm gonna give it a try tomorrow night. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

Your best bet would be to pull the hub and take it somewhere to be pressed.
Would you take the whole hub in? Or would it need to be seperated more? I need to replace mine soon too.
Alosm how much does the new bearing cost? Anyone know off hand?
just bring the whole knuckle to the machine shop tp be pressed.
and according to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com, the bearing is $58. i would think napa/autozone/advance auto/etc. would have a cheaper price for their bearing.

Actually, most of the autoparts stores are right around the same price, and use the exact same part that honda/acura sells. Of course there's still no replacement for OEM.
