Default Why would I have hesitation when vtec kicks in

S2000 01

I noticed when I get to around 6500 rpm it sputters for a sec the it continues to move up towards 9000 . I put the computer on it took it for a drive and the vtec solenoid was opening when it was suppose plus I removed the solenoid and cleaned everything good. I put new plugs in today gapped at .028 changed the oil and filter checked all the lines for vacuum leak . All checks out good.

when ever I have bought a modified car, I have always retuned it or at least throw a wideband on to make sure everything is safe... you can never trust anyone!

It was fine, I have a a/f meter which shows it around 11.0 @ 6000.rpm

this happened to my friend with his boosted civic... Its the Greddy Management...no offense but that thing is like a kindergarden teacher trying to teach a Trig class...its possible...but not going to be as in depth as a Trig Teacher...feel me?

get rid of that thing and get something better and re-tune it... just a thought.

If your on a budget i would even just get a AVC-R or the Greddy EO-1...they arent stand alones but they work...dont crank it up and it should be safe enough until you get money to buy something safe to tune it at a higher psi.

if thats not the problem....could be the oil blockage to the solenoid...like said above! hope you get it working...im sure you want to ride out in the car!

That's nice and all but the timing is what's causing your problem not the fuel. As I said, it's your tune.

yes the problem was found, it was bad rocker arms , the old seals leaked and it didnt have enough oil pressure to engage the vtec
