Mugen Air intake vs. J's Racing Air intake?
Mugen air intake system w/USDM front end or J's Racing Tsuchinoko air intake w/USDM front end? Mugen air intake system w/JDM front end or J's Racing air intake duct w/JDM front end? Through anyone's exp that has these intake systems which do you like, why, and which one is the best for performence? Maybe a combo of both the J's Racing air intake duct w/Mugen air intake system w/JDM front end? I have plans in the works to install a JDM front end "someday" Should I stick w/Mugen for now while I have the USDM front end?

No JDM front plz unless it came that way.. and Mugen all the way
The Mugen is a proven power getter and the J's is a proven heat soaker to powerlosser. These 2 intakes are worlds apart in terms of preformance. Mugen all the way.

I bought a J's years ago when it was all the rage. I'd love to have another to compare it to besides the stock set up. If I ever change it, and probably won't, it will prob be for a short ram and velocity stack, which seems to be the more recent tend. My R moves pretty well even with the J's so I'm not really concerned.
J's Racing intake is not bad with stock radiator
but once you put a big aluminum radiator like Koyo rad. in your R
it would heat soak crazy...unless you want to custom make a intake box to avoid the heat soak...
So Mugen > J's racing
Or u can get the comptech icebox would work out similar to the mugen intake but more affordable price

If i am not mistaken, looking at all the threads in the past, AEM is the best-bang-for-the-buck option for the ITR in terms of performance. J's is just a bing bling piece with no performance value.
Unfortunatly AEM has a huge dip mid range where the mugen performs it's best (approx 4.5k-5.5k), and the Mugen has a dip up top where the AEM performs it best (approx 7.9k-8.4k). That being said, I have owned both. I Sold the AEM 2 years ago and went back to stock for more throttle response and bought a Mugen that I just installed yesterday and test drove today for the first time. My first impressions are that it is very similar to stock throttle response, due to having the filter element in the same spot, but has a much better pull overall.
Also, I couldn't stand the cheap noise of the AEM so I must say I am much more satisfied with the Mugen sound which is like an amplified version of the stock air box with a much crispier sound. Nothing that attracts attention from engine bay sound as does the AEM. I have no experiense with the J's intake, but my guess is as good as yours, I would rather stay stock then to have a ***** whale under my hood.

Well then Mugen it is for DA WIN!
I've had the J's and AEM v2, they are both noisy intakes.
I hope to purchase a mugen one day.
Does the intake arm effect any performance at all? Because i see a lot people just use stock arms on mugens.
