Hey guys,

My civic has been having these 2 issues for the last month or 2.

Issue no.1

is when I start the car, I can't just turn the key all the way and it goes. I have to put it to ACC wait till I hear the pump prime and then it starts normally. If I try before it either does nothing or I hear a faint squeaky noise around the steering column.


Issue no.2

When I start the car after it's been sitting for a little while or over night sometimes I get stuttering issues for about 1 minute. It feels like it's having trouble reving at low rpms and then it completely goes away and I won't have the problem again. Yesterday I tried accelerating on a boulevard after putting some gas in the car and it just stuttered for about 5 seconds and then power was back and it didn't do it again after. It's just bothersome. It's not the throttle body sticking as the pedal feels perfectly normal.


Please note this car is my street legal race car and only gets driven to and from the track aside from track time. It has performed flawlessly on track as long as I wait for the fuel pump to prime and I have had 0 stuttering issues while racing no matter the throttle input or cornering forces.

I have replaced the steering column a few months ago and everything worked fine and is connected properly. Battery brand new, I am changing the fuel filter this week.

The dizzy cap is fairly new looking and I recently replaced the spark plugs with no ill effects after installing the new ones.

Any ideas guys?

clean you IACV and your FITV...should help alot with the stutter.

as far as the start up...just wait till it primes everytime...no big deal there if its normal after the prime.

 

A wideband may help see whats going on at the low end. Stutter may be from a really poor air/fuel mixture ( way too rich perhaps?). What motor and computer are you running? Has it been tuned?

 

it's a bone stock d16y7 that has been running fine for 250 000kms.

It only stutters for like 1 minute sometimes after I turn it on and it stops one minute after I started driving it and never returns. It also doesn't do it everytime I start it most times it's fine.
