Default 97 Auto to Manual Swap HELP

I have a friend with a unique problem. He and a few friends converted his 97 Accord SE coupe from auto to manual, and for some reason keeps breaking the passenger side axle inboard joint. He believes it's because one of the people who helped him installed the auto rear mount bracket along with the manual rear mount causing the engine to pitch back a few degrees. Upon visual inspection one can see there is a bout an inch difference to where it bolts to the mount.

My question is, that if it was off by that much how were they able to install the front tranny mount?

Secondly he said that the first axle lasted a couple of months, the second lasted 3 weeks and the last 2weeks, mind you he was using reman axles and not new ones. It's only the passenger side inboard joint that keeps breaking. I think its because he's using cheap axles.

Have any of you guys ever ran into this problem ??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

Yes, seen this happening before. You said about 1 inch... well, the 98 accord passenger axle is about 1 inch longer than the axle used on the 94/97 accord.
I you had less than half an inch, you could use spacers (thick washers) on the inside of the spindle to push that axle towards the transmission... but in your case, just put the 98 accord axle in there and it will work.
Also, i believe the 97 SE will have ABS brakes already, so.. just order the new axle with ABS as well...

I'm talking vertical difference not horizontal. What your saying does make sense though. And 98 was a completely different body than 94-97. Thanks for the input though!

The axles are the same however, except for the length..........

I would suggest he spring once for the OEM Honda axles, remans are hit or miss most of the time.

did he re drill the tranny mount hole?

the hole that the automatic mount bolted to is not at the right place and will seat the engine crooked and cause axle breakages
