Need help removing the axle
I've managed to get the lower ball joints off the car today.
The problem I have now is that the axle wouldn't come off the transmission.
I have tried several prybars but it's not working. I have an even larger 36" prybar but don't have enough room to use it underneath the car. I've tried hitting the axle with a hammer but it wouldn't budge.
Can someone help?

Here is the new one.

A lot of people have troubles with the left. It is easier to take out the intermediate shaft out as well and that comes out of the tranny easier.
The shaft bolts up 3 points on the back of the block

You need to get a punch and hit the axle housing it will come off I gaurntee it. You need a good punch and a good 3 or 3.5lbs hammer. You can get one at homedepot. Lok for one named Fat MAX it will get the job done.
yeah then once you have the intermediate shaft out, this is what i do to separate the axle from the intermediate shaft:
1.) grab big enough socket
2.) grab hammer
3.) place socket in between, hit on the socket to "wedge" them apart

I'll have to do this for now on. Thanks for showing this, I've always been using a long prybar and that still takes some effort

on the right side, i always use two big flat head screwdrivers and pry while i wiggle the axle.. unfortunately on the driver side i have ALWAYS had to pull the half shaft and intermediate shaft, once i spent 2 hours and it would not come off then i realized i could unbolt the intermediate and have it off in less than 10 min, then once off, get a big hammer and knock it off, some axles i've gotten in 1-2 knocks, some have taken 30-40 while working around the edges of it.. all depends on what the situation is.
Woohoo!! I got the damn driver side axle out today. It's a million times easier to just remove the intermediate shaft out with the axle attached rather than trying to hammer/pull/pry the damn axle off. I took me days trying to pry/pull/hammer the damn axle off with the intermediate shaft on and I still couldn't get it out, yet only took me 15 minutes to remove the whole assembly (intermediate shaft & axle attached)

Once the whole assembly is out, thanks steven **noticed all of the hammer marks on the axle, lol i spent a lot of wasted time & energy hammering away trying to remove the damn axle**
