Finally happened...broke my stock ITR diff
my stock ITR LSD broke in the last IDRC event at Fontana. i'm sitting on the fence deciding between another stock ITR LSD or an AutoTech Wavetrac limited slip differential.
i heard a lot of good things about the Wavetrac which is based on a pre-loaded design. this prevents wear and tear on the drivetrain and motor when launching and/or under load. i'm planning on rebuilding my tranny while upgrading my diff...putting in taller first gear, 4.9 final drive and replacing worn synchros.
will this be enough to get me down to low 11's (slick size currently is 23")??
here's a diagram of the Wavetrac:

any inputs or feedback will be greatly appreciated...thanks!

how did you break your stock diff? I have friends that are goin low 10's all day making 500+hp on stock ITR diffs and having no problems at all.. If you wanna get a new LDS diff and not spend as much money get an OBX one.. My buddy have one and are goin 10.5's all day and the diff is holdin up real nice

it is well documented on this website how many people have run into problems with obx parts
Yeah they havent had any problems what so ever with that OBX lsd.. I was kinda skeptic about it at first too when they got it but its holding up fine.. Yeah some OBX parts are garbage but Ive seen some actually come through and hold up fine, like the LSD's. The ITB,s, turbo manifolds, and stuff like that are all junk, im not gonna disagree with you there but the LSD's arent

so after research i decided i'm going to go with the WaveTrac diff. from my understanding obx and other differentials in the market are like stock diffs but with upgraded parts. the WaveTrac diff is the only differential with the pre-loaded design and lifetime warranty.
we all know that track conditions vary and are beyond our control (especially on race days) but with the WaveTrac diff, i'm hoping to eliminate 2nd gear and 3rd gear wheel spins. typical LSD's in the market don't compensate for load, thus promoting higher chance of drivetrain breakage. also, because of this design, it will help compensate power transfer between the wheels and the track regardless of track and climate conditions. when launching at higher rpm's with low tire pressure, i don't have to worry about breaking the WaveTrac since it was produced from stronger materials and backed with the ONLY lifetime warranty in the import industry.
i'm going with the WaveTrac since it's the only option for me. i'll be doing a tranny build soon with the new diff and gear setup. at that time, i'll be posting up more details and progress on here. when everything is up and running, i'll let everyone know of the track results (i.e. time slips)...thanks for everyone that replied.
