Default few a/c removal Q?

im removing my buddys a/c in his coupe tomorrow, most likely for a few bucks. i know what to take out from under the bay. were gonna pull the dash too, to put a 93 civic dash to have the airbag delete. my question is, what can i take out the dash? or from under the dash. he still wants to have heat. but what else will be dead weight when there is no longer a/c and can be removed?

I would try to convince him to keep it.....

As far as removing, the condenser, compressor and the lines. There is nothing under the dash.

there are most surely under-dash parts. I just left mine in there because I can't be bothered to take all that apart. But if ur going to remove the dash then whatever. The rest is very easy.

False.

if you're wanting to pull out a complete working A/C system you'll need the evaporator and evap housing from under the dash. since your buddy still wants his heat and blower to work afterwards he'll have to replace the evap. housing with a duct (#7) similar to the image below. (i couldn't find the real piece, but it looks like this one...)

if this is just to clean up the engine bay, and remove some weight from the car, then you won't need to worry about these parts as they don't weigh much at all.

also the lines in the front of the car that curve back and mount into the body of the car, can be removed too? like if u look at the car from the front w/out the bumper u should only see the radiator and the header? not the ones that go across there. its rainin bad here so i cant take pics or look and figure it out myself...

Yes all the lines can be pulled. The lines you are talking about will run from the condensor in front of the radiator, along the passanger side of the engine bay and attach to #45 in the picture I posted (firewall just behind the battery)

Wait, here is the perfect picture... Pull all this BS seen below:

#15 kinda hides between the splash guard in the drivers side wheel well and the bumper, but I'm sure you knew that.

hondamark35 mentioned replacing some ducting (#7 in the image he posted).

If you didn't want to go buy parts all you would need to do is somehow seal the whole where #45 in my previous post exits the duct and goes to the engine bay.

The part you mention is behind the firewall (behind the glove box). It is the housing for #45 in my previous picture. Take the housing apart and remove #45 as mentioned but the housing is also ducting so you will need to put that back in the vehicle for the heater to function normally (blow to all the vents). As I mentioned just find some way of sealing the opening in it that goes to the engine bay. Like some plastic cut to shape and RTV that **** in there.

NP, yeah you should be able to get to it with the glove box removed. You will have to remove that metal brace from behind the glove box as well.
