Default temp gauge inop searched)

I just picked up this ef..
has a d16z6 obd1 swap with p28
so the problem is that temp says its on super hott!
as soon as i turn it on even when its super cold (mornings) it reads all the
way hott.

The guy that i got it from said he replaced the temp sensor n hesaid that did not fix the problem..

anyone know what it might be.?

also if it help my fuel guage dont work but i think thats just the sending unit..

some help please!

Check the wiring from the temp sensor back. Also, check to make sure he did indeed change the sensor, it should be the one on the thermostat housing.

the sending unit for the temp gauge is on the end of the head below the distributor - has a 1-wire connector with yellow with green stripe wire

Ok koo ill check the wire . Yea I know where its at beavuse I unpluged it because as soon as I connect it reads super hot

You need to replace that sensor then, it's bad. It's giving you false readings. It's a ~10 dollars at an autoparts store.

I have this same problem with my crx project car turn the ignition and its on the halfway mark. If you let it warm up it goes in the red but sometimes it goes back down I dont get it either. Ive changed the coolant temp sending unit with no luck if I find out anything ill post.

yea one time while messing around with my cluster I bumped the temp gauge and it got stuck on hot. Had to pick up another one from pick n pull.

No didnt touch it ... its not like its just off a bit its more so all over the place

no i did not bump it but i dont know about the guy i got it from.
all he told me is that he replaced the sensor and it did not fix it.
but im going to buy it tommorow just to know thats its not that.

Check the wiring from the temp sensor back
yup i check it its good so im thinking it maybe the sending unit giving false readings
