Power Window will go down and sometimes not up
Hi,
I have a 2001 Accord EX coupe. For the last year the driver and the passenger power window will go down but sometimes it gets stuck half way. When this happened, I've had to grab the window as it's going up and at the point that tends to stop I pull and then after those couple of inches of travel then it works by itself. Last week the driver window will just stay stuck halfway and I have to wait a few minutes before trying the switch since it would not go down or up. After the couple of minutes, the window will go up a few inches and get stuck. I had to grap it really hard and pull it as it's going up and assist all the way up and leave it close. Will it be the motor? Regulator? Both? I was told at the dealer that it comes in 1 whole part but I've seen all kinds of options (with or withouth regulator) ANy suggestions on where to find what I need or if it is an easy job? I do all my maintenance on my car so I am happy to try this one if no special tools are needed and I have instructions. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the rubber of the window channel is full of dirty. You need to remove the door panel, remove the 2 screws that hold the window to the regulator and then take out the glass. It's easier to remove the screws, hold the glass in it's up position, switch the regulator down (press the button) and tilt the window downward, it's easier to get it out like that.
Then remeve the rubber from the window channel, clean with water and then dry it, you will be amazed how much dirty can be trapped in there.
Reinstall the rubber into the channel, DO NOT put grease on the rubber thinking it will help the window slide up and down, as they will trap even more dirt than before.
Reinstall the window, hold it all the way up and switch the regulator up (pressing the button) until it touches the botton of the window. Now, put the 2 screws back in the regulator/window. Test it to see the result and then reinstall the door panel.

Accords are known for having slow windows, and sometimes... windows won't go pass beyond a certain point. And cleaning the channel makes a big difference.
Its either your motor is goin out, but not likely. The switch is going out, thats more likely or it may be sliding off track when it rolls down..
