Why is my car hesitating?
okay, SO, in the lower rpms when i get on it a little, It seems like its getting too much fuel or not enough fuel.
It takes a few seconds to accelerate. You will give it gas then it gets loud, then you wait, then when the rpm gets high enough it actually goes like it should.
Its not just a smooth acceleration. it doesnt gradually pick up speed consistently like it should. Its just way slow and then it seems like it burns the excess fuel, or it seems like it gets enough fuel. then BAM, it goes. haha
I know this isnt very descriptive. But I dont really know how to describe it. You just have to experience it.
Im pretty sure its a fuel problem.
My car has a b20b swap. So something the previous owner obviously did wrong.
Im confused. and i just want a healthy car

i would check it if i were you..just get a container and poor the gas thats in the filter to see if there's any debreyy in the fuel..it would only take you about 10min. max.
do routine maintenance on it like fuel filter and make sure your air filter is clean. if it still seems like a fuel problem take off your fuel rail and even with a filter, crap can get through, so on the top of your injectors you should have a little filter inside of the them, pull those out and clean them and re-install everything. if its not that then you don't have a fuel problem and you need to check timing. or possibly the o2 sensor or cat. converter

i have the same issue, i changed my fuel filter about a year ago, when should i change it again, cuz my car seems like its studdering comin out of a turn, my CEL came on and it was the o2 sensor on the cat, but the studdering problem washappenin b4 the CEL came on
It seems like everyone has experienced this. My b16 does the same thing around 3000 rpm. Has to be one certain thing since they are happening on different motors.
like I said. I have alot of experience with honda's check those things first and cat. converters can cause the issue when they are clogged up. hence taking high rpms to push out the air. o2 sensors can cause it, vacuum lines being hooked up wrong can cause it, dist. rotors buttons can cause something like it as well. 90% of the time its something simple. just have to narrow it down. check fuel system first then dist. then exhaust. most problems like that I have had were in the fuel system and a bad cat or o2 sensor
the o2 can be thrown when its not the problem, id check that first though and don't beat around the bush, thats what the car is saying is the problem so that should be the first thing checked. the fuel filter can be 6 months old and be clogged up. I had one that was less than a year old that was horrible...of course thats when gas was 4$ a gallon.(bad gas) id replace that and check your small injector filters
sounds like its either the pump/fuel lines being clogged or restricted , the injectors being clogged/restricted, the fuel filter, or the tps.
does it jerk or surge at WOT?

My car was idling really strange one time. So i unplugged the idle position sensor and it helped the problem. So could that be the problem? it still idles weird every once in a while
I have had it 9 months. I dont know if it has always done it because i have never really got on it. I couldnt even test drive it because i couldnt drive stick, haha. but my dad drove it and he said it felt fine.
i had a friends civic drive me crazy with stumbling tryed filters, new gas, fuel pressure test, injector purge, cap and rotor (even swapped distributor with mine) turned out to be the plug wires and they didn't even have any oil or water visible on them wich i found wierd . so like most ppl say start with the basics.
drive it before it even has a chance to get warm and see if it hesitates if it gets worse as it warms up id be looking at the wires.

i just changed my coil/cap/ and rotor! still doing the same..I have NGK spark plug wires and bosch( however its spelled) platinum 2 spark plugs, cleaned my filter about 3 times.. AAAAHHHH! i bogs down and turns off sometimes so i tap the gas pedal at the light and everything is fine.. is it most likely my distributor timing?
