clay bar or rubbing compound
I have two cars, both are black, but each have a different problem.
The first one is hazzy. I would say it is oxidized but i though oxidation looks like water marks. i don't think the paint is faded, just the clear coat looks cloudy.
The other car has some kind of yellow spots on it. without seeing it, the best way to describe it would be that it looks like instead of putting flakes in your paint it has these nasty yellow spots. I stored it in a pole barn and when spring came along tractors and riding lawn mowers were being fired up for the first time. I think this yellow crap is from some kind of exhaust. Anyhow, it is very hard to get off. even from my windows.
Sould i use rubbing compound on these or clay bar? I guess i just don't know how they are different.
Thanks

first:Rubbing compound at about 1500 with high speed buffer and then go back with a gloss(meguairs NXT) on a low speed. Finish with a gloss(turtle wax ice) no white residue an looks amazing)
2nd:I think this maybe pollen, I'd use something with a lite grit inside of it(goto o reillys an find the meguairs 1-24 step wax an polishes I believe it maybe either 6 or 7 but dont take my word for it, Jus find the one with lite cut/grit.) then go back with a buffer on high speed with rubbing compound ,then low speed polish to finish the job.
Note: do a very very good wash before doing either jobs.
those are i think I would do if a customer asked me to detail there car,but doing the 4 steps below should get it to what your looking for.
1:wash(meguairs gold class)
2:compound with med cut/grit. high speed(meguairs lite cut at o'reillys)
3:cleaner wax .use micro to wipe(meguairs cleaner wax)
4.polish.use micro (turtle wax liquid polish)
another note:Clay bar can hurt your paint more than help if you dont use a new bar on each panel then theres just a bunch of dirt an contaminates will scrath the clear coat.I'm jus stating from experience but everyone has there opinion.
