Default Blinking D4 ... Are the TCU Codes saved/retrievable after the blinking goes away?

92 EX

I have a very intermittant blinking D4 that goes away after the car is cut off. Are the codes saved and available or do I have to jumper/read them then the Blinking D4 was already active?

I did a search and couldn't find the answer, but knowing that your car is a 92 and is OBD1, under your glove box you should have to plugs (blue), one with 2 wires and another one with 3, the one with 3 plugs is the one that has the codes for the transmission.

Based on the service manual I have, in order to fully get the trouble codes for the auto trannys, you need ossiliscope to get the correct info. the "check engine" light does light up if there are a few transmission problems but not all. And yes the codes are stored in the A/T control unit, just like the ECU. The only tranny codes that light up the CEL is shift solinoid problems.
