ITR owners, who have driven/owned eg/ek type-r's....
wellps.....
jus wondering how the hybrid (or JDM ek-R) eg/ek compared to the itr.....
acceleration,
handling (auto-x and roadcourse, quick turns, sweepers, etc. balance)
braking
and stability (highspeed---130-140mph stability, emergency brakes etc)....
sometimes it isn't all about power to weight..........
i know that more power in a lighter car means faster......and stops faster too.....
but my main concern is the handling/balance/stability.........

btw, im askin cuz i plan on ITR'ing out an eg.......
b18c5, 5 lug (or somethin equivalent, fastbrakes, etc), itr tranny..........
what would u guys do for the $...
say each was the same price (eg-R, ek-R, Itr.....all with b18c5/b18c-R)
screw the whole "interior thing" n stuff...
im talkin bout driving..

I've driven both a ITR and EK with ITR motor and susp.
The R gives me a sturdy feeling being that it's a bigger car but still handles and moves with great pride.
The EKs (ITR equiped) are super fun to drive, handles great, very very quick, stopping is superior and did I mention super fun to drive.
I'm 1/2 way there with my EK - just saving up for the itr motor swap now.

Caution: A hatch's centre of mass is forward of an ITR's. An EG or EK with an ITR powertrain will rotate very quickly and you need to be prepared for it.
I have the 'R' rear bar, Koni/eibach at all 4 corners and lots of suspension bracing. The EG hatch chassis will rotate on the head of a pin (and scare the **** out of you if you don't know how to drive it). In skilled hands though (not mine
) and properly set up it will own anything on the road.Mike
Well I will say after my C5 swap I noticed the cars willingingness to slide the *** out more than usaul (which with 19 mm rear sway, rear upper and lower bars) which is the normal cornering attitude.
After I put BFG KD's up front it REALLY started to get interesting with the front having so much grip.
Since I had to remove my front upper bar I noticed some front flex and with the added weight there is an increased need for more dampening and probably a little higher spring rate than my POS shock setup has ( ST springs, stock shocks) but its only really scary on long high speed sweepers where the cornering force pins the front outside fender followed by the tail wagging restabalizing and then slightly wagging as the angles change.
Acceleration wise.........WOW. I have ridden in ITR's before..........EK is faster hands down. Braking wise an ITR/Fastbrakes setup is very desirable. DX brakes are okay for the strip and the free way when you have lots of room to slow down but for roadcourse........definitly upgrade.
ITR motor in an EG/EK is what I think Honda's CTR should have been. Its a monster in STOCK form and with ITR brakes would be the Hotest 4 cyl Hatch ever made.
Although I will say a PYR ITR w/JDM frontend looks much sexier than my EK. But at least the ITR can see what my tailights look like
Oh and for that solid feeling you will need a cage in the hatchcrap....but I am sure after a cage it will feel nice and solid.

I had a B18C5 EG coupe with 5 lug, etc. It handled just like an ITR and ran the 1/4 in 14.2 seconds at 98 mph with a filter on a stick and an HKS muff.

I will take ITR over EG/EK-ITR hybrids for autoX & street. I hate how EG/EK chassis flexs so much without a roll-bar.
But, for track where you'll have a roll-cage in the hybrid, I'll take EG/EK-ITR over ITR anyday.
And, since I don't roadrace like Jack & etc., I'll keep my R over any EG/EK hybrid.

b18c5 ek =
I've driven ITR's and I would only trade my EK with b18c5 and 5-lug for a *HEAVILY* modded DC2. Oh, and if the DC5-R ever gets here with recaros, 17s, brembos, HID black housing headlights, and momo steering wheel, I may have to sell my car for that.

I thought I would never say this but the EG with out the type R motor in it still owns the R every time we go and play

Both have pluses and minuses. I miss my R and I wouldn'tve sold it if I didn't have so many problems with it. My EG is not finished (Handling or power yet). But it sure brings a smile to my face anytime I walk over someone that thinks its a plain vanilla hatchback.
You know the nickname snatchback is pretty appropriate because it literally snatches cars off the road.

LOL...
I got news for ya.
That DC5R won't be as fast as your EK-R, either!

My purely subjective preferences tell me I like the DC2 better.
The stiffness of the DC2 chassis combined with the shorter wheelbase and better steering ratio may be what does it for me.
But this is nothing more than my own personal opinion. I fully realise that a properly sorted out EK/EG with the right powerplant will more often than not be faster.

can't u change the steering ratio???
