i replaced mine, it was like 6/10. Just have a big and heavy duty hammer. What i did to take it up i got a socket that went on the ball joint perfectly, and i bang and banged, and it finally came out, just be takes time. And just bang it back in with the new one. Put some over on the top on the new one so u dont mess up the new one.

you take the entire knuckle off. this requires being able to pop off all balljoints and loosening the axle nut. they can be tricky for first timers. there are help threads if you search. youll need to take off the caliper too, should be straight forward.

then you just take off the hub ring, metal ring wedged into the back of the knuckle (it will get in the way when you push the balljoint out) and take off the circlip from around the balljoint (if its original). then take a hammer and bash the old one out.

you should rent a balljoint press tool from autozone or something. it will come with adapters to press the new one in. but be careful, ive found that the threaded stud can be too long, or the adapter sleeve not long enough, that may crush the tip of the balljoint if youre not aware.

once its in place, youll find the new balljoint may not have a groove for a circlip. its ok, its unnecessary, which is why they omitted it in the new balljoints. then youll find it somewhat difficult to reinstall the hub ring. it will want to pop out if you dont put even pressure along the whole circumference of the ring.... how do you do that? i used a coffee can of the right diameter and push it in place evenly. or just take your chances and leave it out. if you have a swap, you shouldnt be using it anyway...

reinstall balljoints and axles and thats it. oh yeah, the calipers too.

would take me like 2 hours i think... and im slow. but if it were my first time... probably 3-5x longer. lol.

it was my first time but it only took me about 1hour..you don't need to take the entire knuckle off..i took mine off with it on the car, the only tricky part is that dahm ring, other than that it was pretty simple..

Though I just carefully tapped mine in, I've heard putting the ball-joints in the freezer before installing might shrink them enough to make it easier.

When I have access to compressed air, I don't bother removing the knuckle. Just separate the lower joint and remove the axle from the knuckle, then remove the circlip (if equipped) from the ball joint. Zap it with an air hammer and it will pop right out. Beat the new one in with a manual hammer and reassemble.

lol iv never heard of that.. though metal does contract and expand.. if u think about it its not a bad idea.. all i have at my house is a 5lb metal hammer... idk if thats enough to get it done or not.. i dont have the ring so that part i dont have to worry about.
