Icon2 Help, Stranded Civic Won't Start

ok, this is really frustrating... Car died while I was driving coming off the highway doing about 60 KM/H on a side road (I was on a long highway drive, it was hot out).... I heard what sounded like a small backfire, hallow choking for a quick second then no power. Will not restart. It cranks but just won't turn over. ECU is not throwing ANY codes. The main relay is only 6 months old. I also tried 2 more relays. They all work. They click, the fuel pump primes and the fuel pressure is excellent. Had to get it towed because I was in a bad spot with not much room on the side of the road. (The main problem is the car is at a garage about 200KM from my house).

Well the mechanic has taken a look at it and he is confused and has NO clue. I installed brand new plugs and wires along with a new dizzy. It's got a great spark now. Compression and timing are excellent. Timing belt was just replaced last month. Like I said fuel pressure is excellent. I even swapped out the ecu for another to check that. Still this damn car cranks strong just won't turn over. I smell gas as well. All the visible grounds look good.

Any guesses, anything?......

well make sure when you redo the timing to put cylinder no 1 at TDC and the dizzy rotor at firing point #1. check grounds, check fuses to make sure non are burnt out. and try again. good luck to you!

Take the cap off and make sure the rotor is on there.
Make sure you get spark.
Check grounds.
Make sure timing belt is on.

thx for the tips guys, everything said has been done. I forgot to check the ground on the thermostat housing though I was thinking today. I'll call up the mechanic up at the garage where its at to check that again for me and to one last time check to make sure the injectors are spraying (its a 90 dx so dpfi). I am sure they are though.

But to recap..
-Timing is great, new timing belt last month and timing has been checked and re-checked, compression is great on all 4 cyl as well
-Swapped out old Dizzy with BRAND NEW one w/ new NGK plugs and wires. STRONG spark
-Main Relay is only 6 months old, clicks and fuel pump primes.
-Fuel Pressure is excellent.
-ECU has been checked and swapped, its fine. Never threw a code when the car cut out.
-checked most important fuses, all look fine

just extremely frustrated... i am desperate, the car being 200KM away makes this real difficult...

thx for the tips though guys.. i know generic "wont start" treads are annoying...
